Introduction
To install OpenOCD simply run as root:
root # emerge -av openocd
Usage
To get usage help, run as user:
user $ openocd -h Open On-Chip Debugger 0.10.0 Licensed under GNU GPL v2 For bug reports, read http://openocd.org/doc/doxygen/bugs.html Open On-Chip Debugger Licensed under GNU GPL v2 --help | -h display this help --version | -v display OpenOCD version --file | -f use configuration file <name> --search | -s dir to search for config files and scripts --debug | -d set debug level <0-3> --log_output | -l redirect log output to file <name> --command | -c run <command>
Hints and tips
The installation adds new plugdev
group and installs No results rules for some hardware (e.g. FTDI USB/Serial adapters), which uses this group for device files (e.g. /dev/ttyUSBx
).
To use these devices as regular user, the user must be member of plugdev
group.
The group of device files can be, after installation of dev-embedded/openocd, changed. Without this package most of them has uucd
as group and after install it, they can seems as stop to works.
